Police Search for Missing Olympian Sammy Lee, 92

Gold medal diver Sammy Lee has been missing since Monday afternoon when he headed out to go swimming in Fountain Valley.

A search was under way today for 92-year-old Olympic gold medalist diver Sammy Lee of Huntington Beach, who suffers from dementia and heart problems.

Lee left home to go swimming at Los Caballeros in Fountain Valley about 3 p.m. Monday, something he regularly does, Huntington Beach police Lt. Mitch O'Brien said.

He hasn't been heard from since, but his credit card was used to buy gasoline about 8:30 this morning in Mojave, which is about halfway between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Surveillance video confirmed it was Lee paying for his own gas, O'Brien said.
