Police Pursuit Ends in Crash, SigAlert

What started as a routine traffic stop at the PCH border of Seal Beach and Huntington ended in a chase, a crash and a SigAlert at the Goldenwest onramp to the 405.

Officers arrested a motorist at the end of a short vehicle pursuit in Huntington Beach today, a police lieutenant said.

The incident began as a routine traffic stop at 9:11 a.m. on Pacific Coast Highway near the Seal Beach-Huntington Beach line. A man driving a black Nissan 280Z tried to elude officers, said Huntington Beach police Lt. Steve Bushhousen.

The chase ended five minutes later when the motorist crashed his car near the Goldenwest Street onramp to the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway, Bushhousen said. The medical condition of the motorist was not immediately known. No officers were injured during the pursuit, he said.

A SigAlert was issued at 9:33 a.m. closing the Goldenwest Street onramp to the southbound 405 allow crews to clean up the debris from the crash, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher said.
