Police Hunt for Robber Who Brutally Attacked Elderly Couple

A man attacked the couple as they were walking out of Bank of America in Los Alamitos today.

This morning, an older couple was brutally attacked by a robber as they exited the Los Alamitos Bank of America.

According to the Los Alamitos Police Department, a man in his 20s approached a 63-year-old woman from behind and attempted to physically take her purse. In the course of the struggle over her purse, the woman was punched and knocked to the ground as the robber continued to wrestle with her.

According to Los Alamitos Police Captain Bruce McAlpine, the woman’s husband, who had been walking in front of his wife, came to her aid and as he did so, the suspect assaulted him too. Several witnesses came to the assistance of the senior couple and attempted to detain the suspect, but he was able to escape, fleeing north on foot through the parking lot toward the alley directly east of Los Alamitos Boulevard.

The man and woman suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene by the Orange County Fire Authority.

Cypress and Seal Beach police departments joined I the search for the suspect, and an Orange County Sheriff’s helicopter, a two-hour search for the suspect was conducted, but he got away. He is described as a male, Hispanic, 25 – 30, 5’-10”, and 175 pounds. He was wearing black pants and a white T-shirt.
