Suspect Pins Employee to Wall, Demands Money from Register

Here is the latest weekly crime summary from the Los Alamitos Police Department.

Editor's Note: This blotter is from the Los Alamitos Weekly Crime Summary from the city Police Department for September 30 to Oct. 6.

STOLEN VEHICLE

10/1/12 – 11:52 AM – 3500 Florista – An officer located an occupied stolen vehicle.  Further investigation revealed property within the vehicle had been stolen during the commission of a residential burglary in another city.  Officers arrested a 32-year-old Sylmar man on suspicion of possessing stolen property, possessing a controlled substance and resisting a peace officer. Officers also arrested a Burbank woman, 27, on suspicion of possessing stolen property and delaying and obstructing a peace officer.

10/6/12 – 1:52 AM – 3200 Katella Ave. – An officer located an unoccupied stolen vehicle taken from La Habra.

ROBBERY

10/6/12 – 12:44 PM – 4200 Katella Ave. – A person posing as a customer used bodily force to pin the employee against the counter and demand money from the cash register. The suspect fled without any property.

AUTO BURGLARY

10/1/12 – 6:30 AM – 10300 Los Alamitos Blvd. – A report of an unauthorized person  smashing a vehicle window sometime overnight with an unknown loss from inside.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY/SHOPLIFT

10/2/12 – 8:09 AM – 3500 Cerritos Ave. – A report of construction equipment taken from a jobsite building without authorization sometime overnight.

DRUNK IN PUBLIC

10/3/12 – 9:22 PM – 4300 Katella Ave. – Pedestrian check.  A Bellflower man, 25, was arrested on suspicion of being intoxicated in public and unable to care for himself.

POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

10/2/12 – 2:00 PM – Green St. and Reagan – Pedestrian check.  A 47-year-old transient was arreste on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance.

10/5/12 – 3:33 AM – 3200 Katella Ave. – Pedestrian check.  An Anaheim woman, 49, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and possessing narcotics paraphernalia. A 42-year-old Fullerton man was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, misappropriating lost or stolen property and a parole hold.

10/5/12 – 3:54 PM – Katella Ave. and Walnut – Traffic stop.  A 52-year-old Long Beach woman was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance.

THEFT

10/1/12 – 10:09 AM – 10500 Calle Lee – A report of an unauthorized person removing a battery from a work truck sometime over the prior weekend.

10/2/12 – 4:00 PM – 4000 Howard – A report of an unauthorized person taking a bicycle trailer from a rack sometime overnight or during the day.

10/6/12 – 9:49 AM – 4100 Farquhar – A report of an unauthorized person attempting to steal coins from a laundry machine sometime overnight.

10/6/12 – 11:51 AM – 11800 Paseo Bonita – A report of an unauthorized person taking a bicycle from beside a residence sometime in the prior hour.

IDENTITY THEFT/CREDIT CARD/CHECK FRAUD

10/6/12 – 12:46 PM – 3700 Katella Ave. – A report of an unauthorized person accessing a business credit account in another city sometime in the prior week.

MISCELLANEOUS

9/30/12 – 10:00 PM – Katella Ave. and Wallingsford – Pedestrian check. Two 18-year-old Long Beach men were arrested: one on suspicion of  vandalism and one on suspicion of possessing graffiti tools.

10/1/12 – 12:16 AM – Norwalk Blvd. and Wardlow – Traffic stop.  A 46-year-old Hawaiin Gardens man was arrested for warrants.

10/2/12 – 8:07 AM – 4200 Farquhar – Suspicious vehicle investigation.  A Los Alamitos woman, 47was arrested for a warrant.

10/2/12 – 6:08 PM – Los Alamitos Blvd. and Hedwig – Traffic stop.  A 52-year-old Garden Grove man was for a warrant.

10/4/12 – 1:47 PM – LOCATION – Traffic stop.  A 24-year-old Long Beach man was arrested for warrants.

10/4/12 – 1:51 PM – 3100 Katella Ave. – Traffic stop.  A 45-year-old Los Angeles man was arrested for warrants.

10/5/12 – 8:23 PM – 10900 Oak St. – A report of graffiti sprayed on the back of a City building.

The mere fact that Nancy Shultz who is an investment officer at ProLogis got quoted in the SunRead More Newspaper (Ted Apodaca had write up) today stating that there are differences between a trucking terminal and a logistics facility. The only difference is WHAT? When you think of a distribution center that brings trucks in you realize it must come in TRUCKS of course, duh. She goes on to be quoted verbatim: “We are going to be consistent with what is already in the neighborhood,” she said. She continues with “There is information that says we are building a truck depot. A depot usually has only little office space an lots of extra land to park for staging.” WELL, I would like to inform her that a truck depot/terminal/Container Freight Station (CFS) is where trucks go to for unloading their consolidated containers. She CAN TRY and change the verbage and I am sure she will, but I ain’t buying it BABE because I work in this industry and I actually know the verbage, no matter how much you twist it. We have truckers coming into the L.A. and Long Beach harbor terminals right now with the word “logistics” in their name and we also know they ARE DROPPING off their containers to customers–YEP–and those customers ARE EVERYWHERE, WHICH INCLUDES HERE. ProLogis, shame on you for pulling the wool over everyone’s eyes. Its not nice to fool NATURE lovers!

Great write-up on the Mitt Romney style property investment company. They have ZERO regard for theRead More people who would be living around this volcano of diesel fumes. You are also 100% percent correct about the roads that will get destroyed due to wear. Tax payers are going to be PAYING EXTRA to have the roads surfaced three times as much while they get to breath the diesel particulate. Nice exchange! Also, you forgot to state that there is a MAJOR hospital four blocks away that needs clear access on roads coming in from Rossmoor and Los Alamitos. HUGE Trucks backed up on our already packed arterial roads are not going to help emergency ambulance calls get to the hospital any faster. I'm sure all the people going to the hospital for cystic fibrosis, emphysema, bronchitis, asthma, COPD, Lung Cancer will love breathing that dirty air. And how many car spaces does a double trailer rig take on the road? 3-4? Our community is going to have China style air quality! Remember that the AQMD nazis want to now prohibit fires in fireplaces thanks to the harbor pollution killing our air quality. Having this site would only make the air worse and push the pollution numbers over the top. PLEASE print the above article out and hand it out and post it for as many people as possible to read.
