Man Refuses to Leave Without Margarita; a Mysterious Tomato; and Stolen Jewels

Seal Beach police dealt with a variety of cases this week, including drunks, rowdy teens and thefts.

Reports are culled from the Seal Beach Weekly Crime Summary for the most recent week available.

8/1/11 — 2:28 p.m. — Balboa Drive — Possible vehicle burglary. Although nothing was stolen, the caller said he believed his vehicle was burglarized because he found a tomato on one of the seats. Ultimately, it was deemed a mystery how the tomato got there, police officials said.

8/2/11 — 1:31 a.m. — 12th Street — A group of juveniles reportedly wrecked a car by smashing its windows and jumping on it. They were arrested on suspicion of public intoxication and their parents were notified.

8/2/11 — 10:46 a.m. — Lampson Avenue— A car window was reportedly smashed and a bag which contained personal items was stolen.

8/2/11 — 9:27 p.m. — 921 PCH — A report of a hit and run at CVS. The vehicle hit one of the store’s pillars and the driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

8/3/11—12:14 a.m.— PCH and 1st — Auto theft. The caller said she loaned a male friend her keys to get something out of her car and then he took off with her silver KIA Optima.

8/4/11 — 8:56 p.m. — 10th St. — A report of indecent exposure. A man in his 60s was seen taking off his shorts in public.

8/6/11 — 12:07 a.m. — 111 Main St. — A report of a fight at Clancy’s that ended with a man lying unconscious for several minutes. One of the men involved had a warrant for an arrest and was taken into custody.

8/6/11 — 7:29 p.m. — 16281 PCH— A report of a 45-year-old drunk man at Taco Surf. The man refused to leave the bar without his pitcher of margaritas and attempted to walk out with it. Police believe he might have poured the contents into a to-go cup before leaving the establishment. Police found him walking and arrested him on suspicion of public intoxication.

8/6/11 — 11:49 p.m. — PCH/Seal Beach — A report of a DUI. Driver was seen weaving in traffic going west on PCH. Ultimately, the driver pulled over in Long Beach and the issue was handed over to the Long Beach Police Department.

8/7/11 — 9:10 a.m. — Clipper Way — A report of grand theft. Caller said $1,500 worth of jewelry was stolen from the house.

8/7/11 — 7:43 p.m. — Crestview Avenue — Grand theft. A ring valued at $15,000 was stolen from the caller’s home. Caller said he suspected his son was the thief.
