Long Beach Man Arrested in Starting Gate Stabbing

Los Alamitos police say Eddie Dean McIntyre got into a fight with two brothers early Wednesday at the Starting Gate. One person was stabbed.

A man was arrested early today for allegedly stabbing another man at a nightclub in Los Alamitos, police reported.

Eddie Dean McIntyre, 39, of Long Beach, was arrested by Los Alamitos Police Officers for assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly stabbed a man outside of the Starting Gate nightclub on Katella Avenue. The stabbing stemmed from an argument between McIntyre and two brothers that broke out about 12:22 a.m., Los Alamitos police Capt. Bruce McAlpine said.

"When officers arrived they determined one victim had been stabbed inside the bar and another victim was assaulted outside while trying to confront the suspect," McAlpine said. "The brother of the primary victim attempted to confront McIntyre outside of the bar, but stopped when the suspect allegedly attempted to slash him."

McIntyre fled the nightclub in a grey SAAB sedan. Witnesses told police McIntyre was wearing a striped shirt, blue jeans and a blue fedora style hat.

Police found McIntyre a short time later driving west on Katella Avenue near Bloomfield. McAlpine said officers made a "high-risk" enforcement stop and arrested McIntyre without incident.

The victim was treated at the scene by the Orange County Fire Authority and taken to UCI Medical Center for wounds sustained to his torso. He was later released.

The second victim was not hurt during the fight.

McIntyre was treated at the Los Alamitos Medical Center for a laceration on his hand and was booked into the Orange County Jail.
