Leisure World Crash Knocks Out Power

Some homes lose electricity after a woman drives into an Edison pole, police say.

A 48-year-old woman, possibly distracted by a puppy in her car, crashed into a power pole at Leisure World just before 11 a.m. Sunday, briefly leaving some homes without electricity, police said.

No serious injuries were reported, but the accident disrupted power in the area for about 90 minutes, according to Sgt. Rick Ransdell of the Seal Beach Police Department.

The Southern California Edison pole almost fell onto a Leisure World clubhouse, police said. The driver said she wasn't sure what happened, but thinks she got distracted, Ransdell said, noting that a puppy was in the vehicle.
