A 93-year-old woman was seriously injured Tuesday when she was struck by a golf cart while crossing the street in Leisure World.
The woman was riding a Rascal, a type of scooter, in the crosswalk on St. Andrews Drive north of Tam O'Shanter Road when the driver of a golf cart failed to yield, said Seal Beach Police Cpl. Dave Barr
“Upon the arrival of police units, it became apparent that one party had suffered very serious injuries,” wrote Sgt. Ron LaVelle in a press release. “Paramedics had already been dispatched, and they determined that the patient needed to be transported to a trauma center. She was transported via ambulance to Long Beach Memorial Hospital.”
The driver was not cited, and drugs and alcohol did not appear to be factors in the crash, said Barr.
