Freeway Closures Coming Soon, But None Thanksgiving Weekend

As a Thanksgiving present to you, we here at Patch have made it so there will be no freeway closures on the local sections of 405, 605 and 22 Freeways next weekend.

Ta-da!

... Ok, we had nothing to do with that, but we like to take credit when good things happen. 

Anyway, while there won't be any closures Nov 22 through Nov. 25, there will be some from Sunday through Wednesday nights.

Here's an update on the latest closures, courtesy the OCTA.

Please note: In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday there are no closures scheduled Wednesday, November 21 through Sunday, November 25. Nightly closures will resume Monday, November 26.

Full Freeway Closures 

Portions of the westbound SR-22 and I-405 freeways will be closed nightly, Tuesday through Friday, between Valley View Street and Studebaker Road. Specific dates and times are listed below.

1. Northbound I-405 Freeway between Valley View Street and Seal Beach Boulevard

o Closed nightly between 11:59 p.m. and 5 a.m. - Sunday night, November 18 and Monday night, November 19.

• I. DETOUR: From the northbound I-405 exit Valley View Street (turn left on Garden Grove Boulevard), turn left on Valley View Street, turn right on Westminster Avenue and continue west, then turn right on Studebaker Road to access the westbound SR-22 on-ramp or the northbound I-405 on-ramp OR continue north on Studebaker Road, then turn right on Willow Street to access the northbound I-605 on-ramp
• II. DETOUR: From the westbound SR-22 exit Valley View Street and turn left, turn right on Westminster Avenue and continue west, then turn right on Studebaker Road to access the westbound SR-22 on-ramp or the northbound I-405 on-ramp OR continue north on Studebaker Road, then turn right on Willow Street to access the northbound I-605 on-ramp

2. Southbound I-405 Freeway between Studebaker Road and Bolsa Chica Road

o Closed nightly between Studebaker Road and Bolsa Chica Road, between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. – Sunday night, November 18, Monday night, November 19 and Tuesday night, November 20

• I. DETOUR: From the southbound I-405 exit Studebaker Road and turn right, turn left on East 2nd Street (becomes Westminster Avenue), proceed east on Westminster Avenue to access the southbound I-405 onramp OR turn left on Bolsa Chica Road, then turn right on Garden Grove Boulevard to access the eastbound SR-22 on-ramp

3. Westbound SR-22 Freeway at Knott Street

o Closed nightly between 11:59 p.m. and 5 a.m. – Sunday night, November 18, Monday night, November 19 and Tuesday night, November 20

• I. DETOUR: From the westbound SR-22 exit Knott Street, turn left on Garden Grove Boulevard, turn left on Bolsa Chica Road, turn right on Westminster Avenue and proceed west, then turn right on Studebaker Road to access the westbound SR-22 on-ramp or continue north on Studebaker Road to access the northbound I-405 on-ramp

Connector Closures

Several local freeway connectors will be closed nightly this week, between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

1. Northbound I-405 Connector to Northbound I-605 Freeway

o Closed Sunday night, Monday night and Tuesday night, between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

• I. DETOUR: From the northbound I-405 exit Valley View Street (turn left on Garden Grove Boulevard), turn right on Valley View Street and continue north, then turn left on Katella Avenue to access the northbound I-605 on-ramp

2. Southbound I-605 Connector to Southbound I-405 Freeway

o Closed Sunday night, Monday night and Tuesday night, between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

• I. DETOUR: From the southbound I-605 exit Katella Avenue and turn right, turn right on Valley View Street (becomes Bolsa Chica Road), continue south on Bolsa Chica Road to access the southbound I-405 on-ramp

3. Eastbound SR-22 Connector to Southbound I-405 Freeway

o Closed Sunday night, Monday night and Tuesday night, between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

• I. DETOUR: From the eastbound SR-22 / 7th Street, exit Studebaker Road and turn left, turn left on East 2nd Street (becomes Westminster Avenue), proceed east on Westminster Avenue to access the southbound I-405 on-ramp

4. Eastbound SR-22 Connector to Northbound I-605 Freeway

o Closed Sunday night, Monday night and Tuesday night, between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

• I. DETOUR: From the eastbound SR-22 exit Studebaker Road and turn right, continue north on Studebaker Road, then turn right on Willow Street to access the northbound I-605 on-ramp

5. Southbound I-405 / Southbound I-605 Connectors to Westbound SR-22 /7th Street

o Closed Sunday night, Monday night and Tuesday night, between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

• I. DETOUR: From the southbound I-405 exit Studebaker Road and turn right, continue south on Studebaker Road to access the westbound SR-22/ 7th Street on-ramp
• II. DETOUR: From the southbound I-605 exit Willow Street and turn right, turn left on Studebaker Road and proceed south to access the westbound SR-22/7th Street on-ramp

Ramp Closures

The following local freeway on- and off-ramps will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. 

1. EXTENDED CLOSURE – Southbound I-405 Bolsa Chica Road Off-Ramp 

o Closed from 10 p.m. Tuesday, November 20 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 214

• I. DETOUR: Between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, take the Seal Beach Boulevard off-ramp from the southbound I-405 and turn left, turn left on Westminster Avenue then turn left on Bolsa Chica Road

2. Eastbound SR-22 Studebaker Road On-Ramp

o Closed nightly between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. - Sunday night, November 18, Monday night, November 19 and Tuesday night, November 20.

• I. DETOUR: Studebaker Road continue south, turn left on East 2nd Street (becomes Westminster Avenue), continue east on Westminster Avenue, turn left on Bolsa Chica Road, then turn left on Garden Grove Boulevard to access the eastbound SR-22 on-ramp

3. Westbound SR-22 Valley View Street On-Ramps

o Closed nightly between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. - Sunday night, November 18, Monday night, November 19 and Tuesday night, November 20.

• I. DETOUR: From Valley View Street / Bolsa Chica Road proceed south, turn right on Westminster Avenue, then turn right on Studebaker Road to access the westbound SR-22 / 7th Street on-ramp
