Former Boyfriend Suspected in Theft of $1,000 in Jewelry

Here are five interesting, odd or important crime calls as reported by the Seal Beach Police Department.

VEHICLE VIOLATION

  • 12/31/2012 — 12:02 p.m. — 405 Freeway and Seal Beach Boulevard — A driver in a brown jeep Cherokee Laredo traveling northbound on Seal Beach Boulevard was texting while driving. The man, about 35-years-old and wearing glasses, almost rear-ended another driver.

PETTY THEFT

  • 12/31/2012 — 3:27 p.m. — Almond Avenue — An unknown person took an air compressor valued at $60 earlier that morning between 6 a.m.  and 7 a.m.

LOBBY

  • 12/31/2012 — 4:34 p.m. — 8th Street — Jewelry was reported stolen from an apartment over the weekend. The item or items was valued at about $1,000. The caller believes the suspect was a former boyfriend.

PETTY THEFT

  • 1/01/13 — 11:34 a.m. — B Row — A caller’s paddleboard, valued at $500, was stolen from the front yard.

WELFARE CHECK

  • 1/01/2013 —9:37 p.m. — Bolsa Chica and Westminster — A short 65-year-old woman with white hair and a gray shirt, blue pants and no shoes was walking in the street in traffic.  She reportedly didn’t look like a transient, but did appear disoriented. The woman apparently lives in Huntington Beach, but when dispatchers tried to call the woman’s residence, there was no answer.
