Former Assemblyman Suspected of Domestic Violence

Chris Norby represented north coastal Orange County in the Assembly for three years.

Former Assemblyman Chris Norby was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and child endangerment, Fullerton police said today.

Norby was arrested early Wednesday afternoon and released early Wednesday evening after posting a $10,000 bond, Fullerton Police Department Cpl. Mike Bova said.

The arrest of Norby, 64, a Republican assemblyman for three years, was first reported by The Orange County Register.

Bova said there were no further details about the circumstances of Norby's arrest.

Norby is a former mayor of Fullerton and member of the Orange County Board of Supervisors. He was elected to the 65th Assembly District seat in a 2010 special election and was defeated by Democrat Sharon Quirk-Silva in 2012.

The Register reported that a 2010 criminal case against Norby over a physical altercation with his wife Martha was rejected by Orange County prosecutors.
