FBI: Alleged Seal Beach Bank Robber Strikes 2 More Banks in Southland

The "button-down bandit" allegedly robbed a Seal Beach Bank of America last week.

The FBI on Tuesday announced that a man who allegedly robbed a Seal Beach Bank of America last week has struck two more times in Southern California.

The man, who the FBI has nicknamed the "button-down bandit," allegedly walked into the Bank of America on Seal Beach's Main Street on Nov. 25, presented a note to the teller and walked away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

According to the FBI, the man was captured on surveillance footage allegedly robbing three other banks in Orange and Riverside counties. The suspected robberies include a Wells Fargo in Yorba Linda on Nov. 15, a U.S. Bank in La Quinta on Nov. 17 and, most recently, a U.S. Bank in Riverside on Dec. 2.

Authorities said that the man usually enters a bank and presents a demand note to the teller asking for $50 and $100 denominations. The FBI said the man also made threatening statements such as "Don't make me do it" and "You have thirty seconds."

The "Button-down Bandit" is described as a 45-50 year old white male with white hair weighing 150-160 pounds.

Anyone with information on any of the robberies is asked to contact their nearest FBI office or dial 911. Tips can also be called into Seal Beach police Det. Gary Krogman at 562-799-4100 ext. 1108.

The investigation is now a joint investigation with the FBI and law enforcement in Orange County and Riverside County.
