Weekend Closures Hit 405, 22

On this pre-election weekend, Patch is urging you to vote third-party freeway detours. The two major freeways will be mired in gridlock, thanks to numerous closures. Oh, and don't forget to vote for real on Nov. 6.

Portions of the westbound SR-22 and I-405 freeways will be closed, Friday night through Sunday night, between Valley View Street and Palo Verde Avenue. Specific dates and times are listed below.

1. Northbound I-405 Freeway

--Closed between Valley View Street and Seal Beach Boulevard, from 11 p.m. Friday, November 2, to 7 a.m. Saturday, November 3

--Closed between Valley View Street and Palo Verde Avenue, from 11 p.m. Saturday, November 3, to 7 a.m. Sunday, November 4

--Closed between Valley View Street and Seal Beach Boulevard from 11:59 p.m. Sunday, November 4, to 5 a.m. Monday, November 5

  • I. DETOUR: From the northbound I-405 exit Valley View Street (turn left on Garden Grove Boulevard), turn left on Valley View Street, turn right on Westminster Avenue and continue west, then turn right on Studebaker Road to access the westbound SR-22 on-ramp or the northbound I-405 on-ramp OR continue north on Studebaker Road, then turn right on Willow Street to access the northbound I-605 on-ramp
  • II. DETOUR: From the westbound SR-22 exit Valley View Street and turn left, turn right on Westminster Avenue and continue west, then turn right on Studebaker Road to access the westbound SR-22 on-ramp or the northbound I-405 on-ramp OR continue north on Studebaker Road, then turn right on Willow Street to access the northbound I-605 on-ramp2

2. Southbound I-405 Freeway 

-- Closed between Studebaker Road and Bolsa Chica Road, from 11 p.m. Friday, November 2, to 7 a.m. Saturday, November 3

-- Closed between Seal Beach Boulevard and Bolsa Chica Road, from 11:59 p.m. Saturday, November 3, to 6 a.m. Sunday, November 4

  • I. DETOUR: From the southbound I-405 exit  Studebaker Road and turn right, continue  south on Studebaker Road, then turn left on East 2nd Street (becomes Westminster Avenue), proceed east on Westminster Avenue to access the southbound I-405 on-ramp OR turn left on Bolsa Chica Road, then turn right on Garden Grove Boulevard to access the eastbound SR-22 onramp

3. Westbound SR-22 Freeway

--Closed at Valley View Street between 11:59 p.m. and 5 a.m., Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday night

  • DETOUR: From the westbound SR-22 exit Valley View Street and turn left, turn right on Westminster Avenue and proceed west, then turn right on Studebaker Road to access the westbound SR-22 on-ramp or continue north on Studebaker Road to access the northbound I-405 on-ramp

Connector Closures

The following freeway connectors will be closed nightly, Friday through Sunday, between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., unless otherwise stated.

1. Eastbound SR-22 Connector to Northbound I-605 Freeway 

  • DETOUR: From the eastbound SR-22 exit Studebaker Road and turn right, continue north on Studebaker Road, then turn right on Willow Street to access the northbound I-605 on-ramp

2. Southbound I-605 Connector to Southbound I-405 Freeway

  • DETOUR: From the southbound I-605 exit Katella Avenue and turn right, turn right on Valley View Street (becomes Bolsa Chica Road), continue south on Bolsa Chica Road to access the southbound I-405 on-ramp 

3. Northbound I-405 Connector to Northbound I-605 Freeway (Closed Sunday night only)

  • DETOUR: From the northbound I-405 exit Valley View Street (turn left on Garden Grove Boulevard),  turn right on Valley View Street and continue north, then turn left on Katella Avenue to access the northbound I-605 onramp

4. Eastbound SR-22 Connector to Southbound I-405 Freeway (Closed Sunday night only)

  • I. DETOUR: From the eastbound SR-22/7th Street, exit Studebaker Road and turn left, turn left on East 2nd Street (becomes Westminster Avenue), proceed east on Westminster Avenue to access the southbound I-405 on-ramp

5. Southbound I-405 / Southbound I-605 Connectors to Westbound SR-22/7th Street (Closed Sunday night only)

  • I. DETOUR: From the southbound I-405 exit Studebaker Road and turn right, continue south on Studebaker Road to access the westbound SR-22/7th Street on-ramp
  • II. DETOUR: From the southbound I-605 exit Willow Street and turn right, turn left on Studebaker Road and proceed south to access the westbound SR-22 /7th Street on-ramp

Ramp Closures

The following on- and off-ramps will be closed nightly, Friday through Sunday, between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

1. Northbound I-405 Seal Beach Boulevard On-Ramp

  • I. DETOUR: From Seal Beach Boulevard proceed south, turn right on Westminster Avenue, then turn right on Studebaker Road to access the northbound I-405 on-ramp

2. Southbound I-405 Seal Beach Boulevard On-Ramp

  • I. DETOUR: From Seal Beach Boulevard proceed south, turn left on Westminster Avenue and continue east to access the southbound I-405 on-ramp

3. Westbound SR-22 Valley View Street On-Ramps

  • I. DETOUR: From Valley View Street / Bolsa Chica Road proceed south, turn right on Westminster Avenue, then turn right on Studebaker Road to access the westbound SR-22 / 7th Street on-ramp
