Driver Accused of Drunkenly Hitting Three Cyclists to Appear in Court

An Alaska woman accused of hitting three cyclists in Surfisde this month, has a history of drunk driving convictions and faces felony charges.

A woman accused of drunkenly driving into three cyclists in Seal Beach this month is scheduled to appear in court today for a preliminary hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to move forward with a trial.

Juli Ann Brown of Alaska is accused of drunkenly hitting three cyclists in Surfside and fleeing the scene. Earlier this month, she pleaded not guilty to three felony counts including hit and run, driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance.

The bicyclists are recovering from bruises and broken bones, and Brown, 46, remains in custody at the Orange County Jail. According to court records in Orange and Riverside counties, Brown has a series of four previous drunk driving convictions since 2003, and another pending case in Riverside County.

Each of her previous convictions were misdemeanors, netting her probation and up to 180 days in jail.
