Crook Steals Caller’s Identity, Buys iPad, Cologne
Also in local crime calls, a man with a history of mental illness locked himself in a room.

Editor's Note: The following crime calls were made to the Seal Beach Police Department and listed on the SBPD dispatch log.
FRAUD REPORT
- 05/23/2013 — 11:44 a.m. — Sunningdale Road — A caller reported that a person opened a PayPal account using the caller’s information and bought a iPad and cologne, worth a combined $500.
- 05/23/2013 —11:51 a.m. — 8th Street — A blue Schwinn bicycle worth $100 was stolen within the last two days.
- 05/23/2013 — 8:14 p.m. — Marine Avenue — A caller reported that a family member, who has a history of mental illness, locked himself in his room. The man was described as 26 years old, five feet 10 inches tall with brown hair and wearing a gray camouflage hoodie, red shorts and white and green shoes. He reportedly had a camping knife with him the day before.
- 05/23/2013 — 8:19 p.m. — Ocean Ave — Golf clubs were stolen from the trunk of an unlocked grey Mercedes S65 sometime about 5:20 a.m.
- 05/23/2013 — 10:58 p.m. — Pacific Coast Highway — A 59-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after he allegedly crashed his blue minivan into a caller’s maroon Jeep Grand Cherokee.
