After Coast Guard Search, Missing Sailor Found in Restaurant

The Coast Guard is looking for a 65-year-old sailor, who went missing somewhere between Alamitos Bay and Catalina Island.

A 65-year-old sailor who was reported missing by his daughter was found today in a restaurant and told authorities he had no idea anyone was looking for him.

John Hull of Sierra Madre was sailing his 15-foot sailboat, the Panda II, with a group early Monday morning from Los Alamitos to Two Harbors on Catalina Island, said Adam Eggers of the U.S. Coast Guard.

"After falling behind the group, Hull text messaged his daughter to inform her he was turning around, and would be home later Tuesday afternoon," Eggers said. "When he did not return, she contacted the Long Beach Police Department."
