Another O.C. Homeless Man Found Dead

The victim has yet to be identified. There was blood inside his truck, but police don't yet know whether it's a homicide.

The body of a homeless man was found Monday beside the truck in which he was living in Santa Ana.

The body was found near Harbor Boulevard and First Street about 11 a.m., said Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.

"We don't know if it's a homicide," he said.

There was blood in the truck but no obvious trauma visible on the front of the man, who was found lying face-up, Bertagna said.

"We'll have to wait until the coroner gets here to turn over the body," he said, noting that the coroner would have to determine if foul play was involved.

Bertagna said "everyone is jumping the gun on whether this is involved with the serial killer. If it is a homicide and there is a correlation, we will be contacting the task force" established to investigate the killings of three homeless men in Orange County.

Those slayings occurred in Placentia, Anaheim and Yorba Linda on Dec. 20, Dec. 28 and Dec. 30, respectively. In addition to police from those cities, the FBI and Orange County sheriff's deputies are helping the task force.

Investigators suspect a serial killer is targeting the area's homeless, according to Anaheim police Chief John Welter, who said last week that the three victims were stabbed multiple times.
