A passerby Thursday morning discovered the body of a man floating in Alamitos Bay near Loynes Drive and Pacific Coast Highway, and the death is being investigated as a homicide, the Long Beach Police Department confirmed.
The man was found in the waterway near the 6200 block of Pacific Coast Highway about 8:30 a.m. Thursday, the department said. That location is at Loynes Drive and docked boats.
Department spokeswoman Lisa Massacani said detectives have found no signs of foul play, and the Los Angeles Coroner's Office will take over the investigation to determine the cause of death. That agency was still trying to identify the victim.
