Attorney Suspected of Meeting Girl for Sex Arrested at Pier

Arturo Fernando Shaw Gutierrez III was arrested Saturday by the Orange County Child Exploitation Task Force.

A criminal defense attorney allegedly tried to meet an underage girl for sex at the Seal Beach Pier, and was arrested in a sting operation, the Orange County sheriff’s office reported Sunday.

Arturo Fernando Shaw Gutierrez III, 36, was arrested by the Orange County Child Exploitation Task Force as he arrived at the pier at noon Saturday, according to a department crime report.

On Oct. 16, the task force investigated a case involving a minor female communicating online with several men, both locally and in other states, the report said.

In November, the task force began communicating with Gutierrez via Facebook and eventually arranged to meet the victim “for sexual purposes” at the Seal Beach Pier on Saturday, according to the statement.

Gutierrez was booked on charges of contacting a minor with intent to commit a lewd act, and arraigning to meet a minor for a lewd act. He was transported to the Seal Beach Jail where he was held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

A search warrant was served at Gutierrez’s home in the Ventura County suburban community of Oak View immediately following his arrest.

“Based on additional information, the task force believes there may be additional minor victims that Gutierrez has communicate or engaged with,” according to the department statement.

The task force consists of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Homeland Security Investigations, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, the FBI and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, according to the statement.

I have the unfortunate experience to know this person. And he was a defense attorney in a sex case that my daughter was a victim of and he is now arrested for similar charges. Ironic or karma.. Bring justice to this exploited girls out there. Young girls don't know how to bring justice and its about time there is some in this case. Judges in Orange County/every county need to set the bar here for future scum bags whom prey on minors.

I bet Alan thinks this guy ought to just get a slap on the wrist too. I wonder if after he hopefully becomes a registered sex offender, he'll lose is law license. From the To Catch A Predator sting in Riverside a few years ago, Rod Pachaeo the former DA of Riverside, CA said: "Counseling doesn’t help at all. And this is an irresistible impulse that these individuals cannot control, and have no desire to control. Counseling is therapy, giving them a hug, isn’t gonna help these guys." Thankfully this guy was caught, only if all registered sex offenders could just live out their lives in Guantanamo Bay, life would be better for all women!

It does not make sense to any rational individual - that someone so accomplished and educated would risk everything and throw away an entire life's work and reputation for what? These idiots always have the same stupified look on their faces when they get caught, like.....ooops, daaaa.
