Alleged Carjacker No Match for Rush-Hour Commute in Rossmoor

After leading police on a pursuit for miles, the suspect calls it quits in rush-hour traffic on the 405, south of the 605.

A police pursuit of an alleged carjacker began in West Los Angeles and ended in Rossmoor on Tuesday afternoon.

The California Highway Patrol chased a reported carjacker for several miles down the San Diego (405) Freeway during the 4 p.m. rush hour. Reaching speeds of up to 50 mph, the driver frequently veered onto the shoulder to get around traffic, said CHP Officer Anthony Martin.

He managed to make it just south of San Gabriel (605) Freeway before pulling over and giving himself up at 4:50 p.m., said Martin.
