Using Compliments, Man Tries to Lure Girl, 15, Into White Sedan

Also in local crime calls, an elderly couple allegedly drove away after hitting a caller's gray Suburban.

Editor's Note: The following crime calls were made to the Seal Beach Police Department and listed on the SBPD dispatch log. 

SUSPICIOUS PERSON

  • 05/03/2013 — 3:34 p.m. — Lampson Avenue — A 65-year-old man with a grey/white goatee walked up to a woman and asked her for directions. After getting an answer, he kept walking beside her for a while. The woman said he then stood in front of a store, and the woman was afraid to walk home. The man also wearing a peach and white striped golf shirt.

INFORMATION

  • 05/03/2013 — 3:36 p.m. — Pacific Coast Highway and Seal Beach — While waiting for the bus with other school kids, a caller said, a 16-year-old boy in a gray Toyota Tundra, stopped across the street and yelled at the girls at the bus stop to “F*** the bus and come with me.”

SUSPICIOUS PERSON

  • 05/03/2013 — 3:56 p.m. — Catalina and Surf — A man driving a small white car tried to lure a 15-year-old into a vehicle, according to a caller. The car was last seen headed onto PCH. The man was described as in in his mid-to-late 20s with dark short hair wearing a blue shirt and black sunglasses and having a heavy build. He was driving a white newer 4-door sedan, and the possible year of the vehicle was early 2000, and it looked like a Toyota Prius. The man came alongside the girl while she was walking, and he rolled down his window and started complimenting her. The man told her "Why don’t you come with me?" the girl crossed the street, and he followed her and said the same things and opened his door. The girl then ran into a neighbor's house.

TRAFFIC COLLISION - NON-INJURY

  • 05/03/2013 — 4:35 p.m. — 405 Freeway and Seal Beach — A gray Suburban and a tan Honda were involved in a collision in the northbound Seal Beach Boulevard lanes south of the 405 freeway. The Honda was occupied by an elderly couple. The caller followed the Honda driver, yelling at the driver to pull over after the accident. The elderly driver refused to pull over. The Honda continued northbound on Seal Beach at Lampson. The caller's car had minor damage.

LOBBY

  • 05/03/2013 — 11:45 p.m. — Seal Way — A caller in a white Range Rover, said she'd received emails from someone threatening her and someone she knows.
