2 Men Flee Through Roof After Stealing $1,000 in Jewelry

Also in local crime calls, a restaurant was broken into overnight but nothing was reported missing.

Editor's Note: The following crime calls were made to the Seal Beach Police Department and listed on the SBPD dispatch log. 

JUVENILE DISTURBANCE

  • 05/24/2013 — 8:23 p.m. — Bolsa Avenue — Four 16- to 17-year-old boys with skateboards were climbing on a fence to get into a school. The caller said that one of them appeared to be a “lookout” and stood on Seal Beach Boulevard.
BURGLARY
  • 05/24/2013 — 8:35 p.m. — Beachcomber Drive — A caller came home to find two men inside the residence. The duo, which allegedly broke in through the back window, fled through the roof. Neighbors chased them but didn’t catch them. One of men wore a gray sweatshirt, the other wore a black t-shirt, and they were last seen running south on Beachcomber. After the incident, the caller found about $1,000 in jewelry missing.
BURGLARY
  • 05/25/2013 — 12:20 p.m. — 1st St — A caller said a restaurant was broken into overnight. The caller later reported that video footage was unavailable. The employees of the restaurant cleaned the crime scene and found no loss.
INJURED ANIMAL
  • 05/27/2013 — 6:16 p.m. — Ocean Avenue — An injured seal couldn't get back into the water near the south side of the pier on Ocean. Long Beach Animal Care Services later arrived and assisted.
POSSIBLE DELINQUENTS
  • 05/27/2013 — 7:41 p.m. — 1st Street — About 40 people were reported in a local pool and jacuzzi and do not live in the area.
