The Seal Beach Recreation and Parks Commission received and filed an update on the Bay City Partners Property on Nov. 28.
In addition to the concept drawing showing how the passive space near the corner of First Street and Marine Drive would be used, it clearly shows the lot placements in what will eventually become Seal Beach's newest development.
With our local housing supply currently experiencing a shortage, one is left to wonder just how much pent up demand there is for new housing? The last development to be built in Seal Beach was the tract of luxury homes known as Heron Point, which was completed just as the market peaked.
With only 32 home sites planned, the tract of beach close homes in the Bay City development will be much smaller and more exclusive. In a housing market where demand is outpacing supply, exclusivity could mean only the most qualified buyers would have a shot at purchasing in the BCP development.
With a variation in lot sizes, this development could appeal to a wide range of demographics including families that want to be close to a large park and the beach.
Perhaps retirees that enjoy an active lifestyle would also see the value in owning a newhome in a location that provides easy bike trail, beach and marina access.
