The Beach: Let’s just hope this summer is a little warmer than last year's and we can actually enjoy some warm days at the beach. Going to the beach is one of the cheapest activities there is. Parking in the lots near Seal Beach is only $6 for the whole day. Pack a lunch, sunscreen and water and make a day out of it. If you must eat lunch out, try El Burrito Jr. It’s just south of the pier, at 909 Ocean Ave. One of the lunch specials is two bean and cheese burritos and a medium soda for $4.25.
Gardening: The official start of summer is just days away. If you haven’t planted your tomatoes yet, get going. We had fresh tomato bruschetta with tomatoes and basil from our yard. It was cheap and absolutely delicious. Don’t forget to plant some lettuce too. I haven’t purchased lettuce in more than a month, and I am still ready to give more away because we can’t eat it fast enough.
Street Fair: Surf City Nights in Huntington Beach is every Tuesday night, and it’s big and lively. It’s a free street fair and farmers market, and it includes entertainment for all ages. Purchase your fresh fruits and vegetables, buy artists' crafts and listen to music all along Main Street between Orange Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway. Time: 5-9 p.m. Location: 200 Main St., Huntington Beach.
