Movie Review: 'The Kid with a Bike'—Head Out to a Foreign Film This Weekend

A heartfelt art house French drama about keeping faith.

Eleven-year-old Cyril Catoul (Thomas Doret) is abandoned by his father Guy Catoul (Jérémie Renier) and same time missing his bicycle. Desperately trying to find his bike hoping it’ll lead him to his father. Coming up short in his search, he accidentally runs into Samantha (Cécile De France) a beautiful and kind hairdresser.

She takes him in, finds his bike and his father. Though finding his father wasn't exactly the happy ending Cyril had hoped for. Written and directed by Jean-Pierre Dardenne, Luc Dardenne, this international art house drama is about holding on to the last strands of hope and finding it. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at this year's Cannes Film Festival and a Golden Globe nominee for Best Foreign Language Film.

Come on Laguna Niguel, get out and see a movie this weekend!  At just 87 minutes The Kid with a Bike has been a critical favorite and deserves your afternoon.

You might also want to take a look at the last days of Rancho Niguel 8, as its about to get a well awaited facelift!

I give this film a 4 out of 5 Patches.

@Mosha: It's a shame more people don't go to foreign movies. I'd take one over a "Superhero" flick any day!
