Washington In Your Backyard- Federal Highway Administrator Victor Mendez Takes A Tour Of WCC Projects

Federal Highway Administrator Victor Mendez visited Orange County and took a tour of the West County Connectors project.

On Wednesday, Aug. 31, Federal Highway Administrator Victor Mendez visited Orange County to attend the OCTA Jobs Summit and tour the West County Connectors project.

While at the construction site, Mendez was able to see firsthand how Orange County construction projects create and sustain jobs.

The tour showcased what has been accomplished in the first year of construction and the success of OCTA’s communications efforts to share the project impacts with the local communities.

Mendez and OCTA employees were shown pile driving, the nearly half-completed Valley View Bridge and concrete being poured on the SR-22/7th Street Bridge column. The reconstruction of the 7th Street Bridge is still on schedule for completion.

All of the tour participants were impressed with the rapid progress made on the project.

This visit from the federal government was a huge opportunity for the project and showed how the investment our taxpayers have made in transportation infrastructure is catching even Washington’s attention.
