My Thoughts on the Fire at the Los Cerritos Wetlands on Sunday

Here are my thoughts on the fire at the Los Cerritos that affected many of us due to PCH & 2nd Street being closed and the surrounding businesses being evacuated:

I could actually see the from my back patio on Ocean in Seal Beach and was quite worried as there are a lot of oil wells extremely close to that area. I noticed that the police closed down PCH at 2nd Street and evacuated all of the businesses in that area for safety reasons which is really smart but upset a lot of people as it is a major intersection in our area. Fires are not good anywhere and extremely dangerous around oil wells (even if the oil is thousands of feet below - still extremely dangerous).

And that is exactly why the Los Cerritos Wetlands group had to move a few homeless camps as they were having open fires right next to the oil well along the San Gabriel Riverbed, which is extremely dangerous. Thankfully they handled this sticky situation with empathy and compassion and were able to move the homeless to a safer place, and they have not come back. I'm sure they didn't understand what kind of danger they were putting both themselves in as well as all of us who live close by.
