Newport Specialty Sub-Acute Care Facility Needs Your Help

Local Businesses have banded together to help Newport Specialty Hospital and the children being cared for in its pediatric facility.

Newport Specialty Hospital is a 135-bed long term acute care and 42-bed pediatric sub-acute hospital located in Tustin, California. Twenty eight children being cared for in the pediatric facility's at the Newport Specialty Hospital are facing being transferred to locations all over SoCal, regardless of where the parents live. Newport Specialty Hospital needs help to keep these children with their family's while providing the medical care to the children in need. I am proud to say that Huggins Dreckman Insurance is just one of the businesses in our wonderful community making a difference and helping these children and their family's at Newport Specialty Hospital. This blog posts is a testament to our local community and the people in it who are giving back every day.

3 local Rossmoor businesses have really showed their support to Newport Specialty Hospital; Rossmoor’s Subway (Joseph Muallem), Rubios’ (Carlos Bernal), and Huggins Dreckman /DRIVE RIGHT Insurance (Stan Dreckman) have offered to help feed the care workers at this facility.

We all agreed that it’s the least we can do. Taking the initiative, Ronda Gregory of Huggins Dreckman/ DRIVE RIGHT Insurance (who is close to the families at the facility), contacted Subway and Rubios – both of whom immediately asked how they could help.  And, as Ronda’s employers, of course we  joined in.  Ronda also scored big with Susan Wyant of Team Pennywise, at  Keller Williams Real Estate in East Long Beach; they are also making a donation of food and drinks for the workers.  She also provided gloves by Pro Med Home Medical Equipment, in Los Alamitos.

Ronda also took great initiative to get this desperate situation into the news; she contacted several news outlets and succeeded in getting Fox News (channel 11 in SoCal) out to cover the story.  She also has called county supervisors and other governmental agencies.  And, another employee of our office (Theresa Roque) put out a request to UCI for supplies.  Other assistance came from individuals, like blankets from the Long Beach’s  McNaulty family and cash donations from the Latshaw family.

It takes people like Ronda to help to make a sad situation better, and we congratulate Ronda for her initiative and continued, tireless work to help the children and families at Newport Specialty Hospital.  There is so much that remains to be done, and with the assistance of community volunteers like these local businesses – including ours we have proven that when a community bands together for a good cause you can make a difference. We hope that our business’ efforts will encourage others to continue to help with this situation.
