Rossmoor to Hold Contest, Create Christmas Light Hot Spot Map

The annual Rossmoor Christmas Lights contest and celebration this year seeks to create a "hot spots map" highlighting the best-decorated homes.

The neighborhood of Rossmoor will once again hold their annual holiday light contest and celebration this month and is looking for residents to sign their homes up for the festivities.

Organizers said that judges will take to the Rossmoor streets Dec. 14 to pick out the best homes decorated for Christmas and award homeowners for their efforts.

New this year, the Rossmoor Homowner Association said that the focus of the event will turn to celebration rather than competition with the goal of creating a driving route map highlighting the best-decorated homes.

"In its 7th year, this time we’re not calling it a contest but more of a celebration," organizer Chris Marshall said in an email. "The primary purpose is to identify all the special homes in Rossmoor sharing the Christmas spirit, and then create a driving route map, directing families to the homes lavishly decorated that are worth checking out at night."

Once the homes have been identified, Marshall said RHA will create a "Rossmoor Christmas Hot Spots Map," which will be posted online at www.Rossmoor-RHA.org on Dec. 18.

Awards will also be given out for various categories such as the "Winter Wonderland Award," "Good Neighbor Award," and "Griswald Award."

For those wishing to enter their homes for consideration by the judges, enter by contacting Chris Marshall at 562-343-6908 or by email at rossmoorlights@gmail.com.
