25 Tons of Snow Coming to Los Alamitos for Winter Wonderland Event

The Los Alamitos Winter Wonderland will offer the chance to go sledding in the middle of Los Alamitos.

The City of Los Alamitos will once again celebrate the holidays by trucking in 25 tons of snow to create a winter wonderland at The Plaza on Dec. 7.

Hosted by the city and the Los Alamitos Chamber of Commerce, the now annual event will welcome the holidays by transforming The Plaza into a holiday-themed wonderland.

Man-made snow will offer participants the chance to go sledding and play in the snow in a separate play area, organizers said. Live entertainment will include dancers and local school performance groups.

Other activities will include a tree lighting ceremony, craft booths and a chance to meet Santa Claus.

Last year's inaugural event attracted more than 1,200 participants, organizers said.

The event runs from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 at the St. Isidore Historical Plaza, 10961 Reagan Street in Los Alamitos.

The event is free and open to the public. However, attendees are encouraged to bring three canned goods to the event to support a canned food drive.
