Los Al High School to Host Nighttime Pep Rally Thursday

Three Los Alamitos athletic teams are currently competing in the CIF playoffs.

Los Alamitos High School announced on Tuesday that it will host a nighttime pep rally under the new stadium lights at John Barnes Field.

In an email sent to the community, Los Alamitos Principal Josh Arnold said the pep rally will celebrate the achievements of the school's many sports teams that are currently competing in the CIF playoffs.

"For students and families that have yet to attend a sporting event this year, this event is sure to capture the spirit and connectedness our Fall Sports have brought to the Los Al campus this season," Arnold said in the email. "Supporting our Griffins as they compete against the county's best will go a long way towards furthering our culture and fostering the experiences that make Los Al one of the most highly regarded public high schools in the country."

The evening pep rally will also feature on site food trucks beginning at 4:30 p.m. for families wishing to have dinner before the rally.

The pep rally itself begins at 5:30 p.m. and runs until 6:30 p.m., Arnold said.

Los Alamitos currently has three teams competing in their respective playoffs.

The girls volleyball team defeated Orange Lutheran this week to advance to the CIF finals on Saturday. In addition, the football team won its first playoff game since 2004 last Friday and the cross country team will compete in the CIF finals on Saturday morning.
