During the fall and winter months, I am always tempted to spend my days eating candy and drinking various ciders. (Ok, maybe 'tempted' isn't the right word considering I have a bottle of pumpkin cider on my desk and I have a bag of Tootsie Rolls in my purse.) Yet, every year, I lose my appetite when my family gathers on Thanksgiving. I hate to see how overweight they've become and that most of them need to take diabetes medication before a meal. I tell myself that if I workout, then I can eat my candy and avoid diabetes and becoming overweight, but I know that is only partially true. So what is a sugar-loving girl to do during the season of candy corn and candy canes?
1. I run - so I can put my iPod in and maybe forget about that second serving of pie.
2. I take class at Beach Fitness- it makes the excess sugar and fat cry.
3. I eat my vegetables - mostly due to the fact I can't cook anything else.
4. I enjoy my caffeine - a cup of hot green tea to start off the morning right!
5. I sleep - I should be sleeping right now instead of writing a blog!
6. I enjoy my single sliver of pumpkin pie rather than devouring half the pan.
Did you know? Women who live alone are 2.5 times more likely to have diabetes. I think that is just the excuse I needed to get a puppy!
