Talk about living up to a name-sake...
Here's Young Frankenstein, a Musical Comedy that's not only
terrifically Funny, but is equally an
absolutely delightful entertaining Broadway Musical.
Many of us were quite
certain, of the Comedy aspect, knowing this was originally a creative thought
of Mel Brooks...a virtual American comedic legend (think back to Mel's early "golden"
writing days with the Sid Caesar 1950's TV Shows' writers team(s) including: Mel
Brooks; Carl Reiner; Neil Simon; Danny Simon; Mel Tolkin; Larry Gelbart; and later,
Woody Allen-- a who's-who of comedic genius
that's been called the greatest comedy writing team ever together in one room).
OK, I did know Brooks loves music and fine songs too, so I expected at
least, some nice, funny musical numbers. The question... might they be more
"filler" for the jokes, or fine musical numbers in their own right? HOORAH!
The Music, Songs, Choreography  &
Show-Stoppers are as fine as the Comedy!
"It's an All-A-Team" of musical Pros. BRAVO! Like The Producers, Here's another - dynamic
Musical Comedy from Opening to final curtain. So, I'm happy to say that Nov,
2013 brings us a Another Rare, Superb Live
Musical Comedy Southern Calif Premier of Young Frankenstein,
Grandly
Opening the
61st
Season
Musical Theatre West (MTW) (which, too has mucho Awards
& Truly Loyal Patrons
).

The original Frankenstein story was written
by Mary Shelley in 1818.
Some deem it early science fiction. Others hated Scientists for taking God's
place by creating life themselves. Bad body parts (damaged Brains) picked from
previously less than healthy bodies, resulted in man-made "monsters" might
kill villagers and hence were attacked with fire by hoards of villagers. A big key
turn in such  stories and films took kinder,
gentler viewpoints of damaged Frankenstein creations--as being SAD and LONELY
,
beings not meaning to harm, but not knowing how to fit in and be accepted
by "humans
"
, or vulnerable children or lonely elders.
In later tales before the Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein Movie there
were, kind folks, (especially Dr Frankensteins & assistants - feeling
guilty
and deeply wanting to correct such Monsters with no harm and instead
build loving humanity, not hatred. Here's Where Brooks' FUN BECAME FILM
COMEDY
-- Creating a new "Nice-Guy-MONSTER" by adding ability
to talk, dance, smile, and even be Good SEX-Partner in life again (for
lonely, no-partners folks. The Comical Film Hit of Young Frankenstein (co-written
by Broo
ks
and Gene Wilder
) came in1974  Brooks also directed the film and Wilder
played lead man--Frederick Frankenstein. The Film was a Great-Hit in both
Money and Award Nominations.
The Young
Frankenstein Film
stands in many serious Lists of 100 finest Comedy
Movies
. Loved the Movie- This is
Even Better!
