A world-famous swimmer and bestselling author teams up with a nonfiction star illustrator to tell this heartwarming tale based on a true story.

Here's the incredible story of Elizabeth, a real-life elephant seal who made her home in the Avon River in the city of Christchurch, New Zealand. When Elizabeth decides to stretch out across a two-lane road, the citizens worry she might get hurt or cause traffic accidents, so a group of volunteers tows her out to sea. But Elizabeth swims all the way back to Christchurch. The volunteers catch her again and again--each time towing her farther, even hundreds of miles away--but, still, Elizabeth finds her way back home.

Lynne will be at the Cypress Public Library (5331 Orange Avenue, Cypress) at 1:30pm Sunday, May 18th, 2014. This is a free event. Floor seating is reserved for children with standing room available to adults. A few copies of Elizabeth will be available for purchase from the Women’s Club of Cypress. Feel free to bring your own copies for signing. Other books by Lynne Cox and Brian Floca will be on display and available for check out from the library.

We hope that you will help us spread the word and plan to
join us for this special event. For questions, please contact the Cypress Library at (714) 826-0350.
