Winning Wiener to Be Crowned Top Dog at Wiener Nationals in Los Alamitos

By Jessica Burger

Saturday dachshunds will dash to be crowned "Top Dog" at the Los Alamitos Race Course for the 18th Annual Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals. A tradition and a fundraiser, the event has raised $20,000 through ticket and t-shirt sales, with proceeds going to the Seal Beach Animal Shelter.

This year more than 80 dogs will dash in the Los Alamitos regionals, but only one will go from "wiener to winner." The official "Top Dog" title comes with a $250 cash prize and a trip to San Diego to compete in this year's Wiener National Finals at the Holiday Bowl.
