Record Rainfall and Low Temps in the Region

The cold storm that swooped in from the Gulf of Alaska brought chilly temperatures that shattered records that have stood for as long as 62 years.

Long Beach Airport received a quarter inch of rain Tuesday, breaking the record set in 2004 while Los Angeles Airport recorded .23 inches of rain, shattering the record set back in 1949.

Similarly, the region saw record lows such as the low of 49 recorded at UCLA, tying the old record set in 1962.

Los Alamitos saw an overnight low of 53. The cool weather is forecast to continue through the week with the rain expected to abate Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service. The rest of the workweek is expected to remain sunny, but the weekend will start with a slight chance of showers.
