Rain, Hail and Thunder May Be Headed Your Way Today

Much like last year, the Race on the Base athletes are in for some rough weather today.

Thunder, rain and hail are all in the forecast for today, along with cool temperatures and high winds.

All in all, it will be an interesting day for the more than 6,000 runners at the 30th annual Race on the Base in Los Alamitos.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a 90 percent chance of rain locally today, with the highest chance coming after 10 a.m. The storm may produce small hail, and gusts could reach about 30 mph. Temperatures are expected to reach 52.

 Tonight, the weather service predicts a 40 percent chance of rain after 10 p.m. and the possibility of thunder and small hail. Nighttime temperatures are expected to reach a chilly 38.

For the rest of the week, the weather service is predicting sunny skies and a slight warm-up, to the low and mid-60s in Los Alamitos, Seal Beach and Rossmoor.
