Police Warn of Planned 'Bash Mob' Attacks Friday

Long Beach police have information leading them to expect mobs of people to commit assaults, attacks and thefts in Long Beach Friday.

Be careful if you have to be in Long Beach Friday as police are bracing for planned attacks by violent mobs.

A planned, sudden assembly of individuals who attack people and businesses is expected in Long Beach Friday, police warned.

More than 100 people participated in a "Bash Mob" July 9 in the Pike and City Place areas downtown, committing thefts, property damage, and assaults, Long Beach Police Department Sgt. Aaron Eaton said.

"We will continue to support everyone's right to free speech and assembly. However, the police must also protect the safety of those victims targeted by these 'bash mobs."'
