Police Persuade People Possibly Planning Paintball in Park to Pack it In

Also in local crime calls, a 79-year-old man went missing from his home, but was found about 45 minutes later.

Editor's Note: The following crime calls were made to the Seal Beach Police Department and listed on the SBPD dispatch log. 

PAINTBALL GUNS

  • 06/14/2013 — 5:47 p.m. — Avalon Drive — Five subjects were spotted heading down to the park with paintball guns. Subjects walked in from Catalina Avenue. Officer spoke to the party and the members said they would stop their plan.

  • 06/14/2013 — 6:39 p.m. — Old Ranch Road — Someone stole a Black General Motors Company Sierra pick-up truck from behind a building next to the freeway.

RECKLESS DRIVING

  • 06/15/2013 — 4:14 a.m. Elder Avenue — A gray-colored Ford Mustang was allegedly racing up and down the street.  Officers found the drive had allegedly been drinking but was not driving under the influence.

MISSING ADULT

  • 06/15/2013 — 3:59 p.m. — Yale Lane — A caller reported a 79-year-old man, who suffered from an unnamed illness, had gone missing. He was described as having grey hair and hazel eyes and wearing a baseball cap, a blue sweatshirt and blue jeans. About 45 minutes later the man was located and returned home.

HIT AND RUN – PARKED VEHICLE

  • 06/15/2013 — 11:20 p.m. — Seal Beach Boulevard — A blue pick-up truck hit a parked gold Cadillac Escalade and then fled the left the scene. The truck sustained damage to its rear bumper, according to a security guard.
