Pier Palm Trees Now Glow in the Dark

A $3,000 grant from Run Seal Beach adds a little sparkle to the city's shore at night.

Like glowing goosebumps, hundreds of tiny lights now twinkle on six palm trees near the entrance to Seal Beach Pier.

The $3,000 project was funded by Run Seal Beach as part of nearly it recently awarded to local organizations from the group's April race proceeds.

The lighting setup was designed by Seal Beach resident Jeff Lopez, whose Dekra-Lite company specializes in commercial Christmas decorations. Dekra-Lite installed the bulbs in conjunction with city staff. Lopez also chipped in on the cost of the project, according to a press release.
