Northbound 405 to Close Entirely for Tonight Followed by Southbound Closures

Tonight there will be closures on the northbound side while Friday and Saturday will have southbound closures.

The northbound San Diego Freeway (405) is scheduled to shut down entirely tonight while the southbound side is expected to close completely Friday and Saturday night as part of the $277 million, three and a half-year

It remains to be seen if predicted rainstorms will halt the construction work or subsequent closures.

As for now, the closures are slated for midnight to 5 a.m. on the northbound side between the Garden Grove Freeway (22) and Seal Beach Boulevard so that workers can install overhead power lines on the freeway.

Commuters heading west on the 22 can exit Goldenwest Street, and those driving north on the 405 can exit Westminster Avenue and travel west to reconnect with the 405.

On the southbound side of the freeway, workers will remove overhead signs, triggering closures Friday and Saturday nights from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. between Seal Beach Boulevard and the 22.

Motorists can exit Seal Beach Boulevard and follow detour signage toward Westminster Avenue to reconnect with the soutbound 405 or eastbound 22.
