Los Alamitos Couple Has Baby on Way to Hospital

Little Ava Pennington was born in her parents SUV.

A Los Alamitos couple gave birth to a baby girl Wednesday in the passenger seat of their SUV.

According to NBC, Lorraine and Shaun Pennington were just two stoplights away from Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, when their daughter came rushing into the world.

“I had to fish her out of my pajama bottom, she came out so fast,” Lorraine Pennington told NBC.

Weighing 7 pounds 9, Ava had the umbilical chord wrapped around her neck and wasn’t breathing when she was born, NBC reported.

“That’s when I yelled at her, ‘Flip it upside down and hit her on the back!’” Shaun Pennington told NBC. “Once she started crying … I felt a lot of relief.”
