The Griffins brought home win No. 300 for longtime Los Alamitos High School Football Coach John Barnes on Thursday night, making him just the fourth person in California history to reach that number.
At Veterans Memorial Stadium in Long Beach, the team crushed Marina Valley High School, 46-0.
It was Los Al's first league game, and it was the LAHS homecoming game too.
Patch spoke to Barnes on the eve of his 300th win, and the 33-year coaching veteran said he's still in love with his job, his family and his sport.
Heading home from the game, LAHS Principal Joshua Arnold congratulated Barnes and the team on the victory: "300 isn't the end. We're going to keep going."
Editor's note: If you took pictures of the game, we'd love to have 'em. We couldn't attend, even though we really wanted to.
