High Wind Warning Issued for Orange County Coastal Areas

The strongest winds are expected through and below passes and canyons, and in the coastal foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains.

Gusty winds are expected to continue across Orange County's coastal areas Sunday.

The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning for northeast winds of 25 to 35 mph and gusts of up to 60 mph through Sunday, and a wind advisory through early Monday morning. The strongest winds are expected through and below passes and canyons, and in the coastal foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains.

A high wind warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring. A wind advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected.

The winds could make driving difficult, especially for motorists in high-profile vehicles, according to the weather service. Drivers are advised to watch for broken tree limbs and downed power lines.
