Over the course of just a couple days, the local weather is expected to swing from cool and foggy to hot and windy to cold and rainy.
Wednesday started with dense fog and gave way to unseasonably warm weather and gusty winds. The dense fog that blanketed the Orange County coast this Wednesday morning gave way to dry, gusty winds and hot temperatures.
The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning that's in effect until 6 p.m. today, advising residents of gusts as strong as 50 mph.
In the Seal Beach/Los Alamitos area, the high was in the upper 70s and low 80s.
According to the National Weather Service, Thursday is supposed to be 10 degrees cooler with a slight chance of rain as a cool storm blows into the area, bringing a 70 percent chance of rain on Friday.
"On Wednesday night and Thursday we transition into a distinctly colder, wetter, winter-like weather pattern," Weather Service forecasters said.
