Another Suit Filed in Salon Massacre

Christy Wilson's husband files suit against Scott Dekraai, the alleged Seal Beach salon killer. Michelle Fournier's family has also gone to court seeking damages.

For the second time in several days, accused killer Scott Dekraai has been sued by the family of an alleged.

On Monday, the husband of Christy Wilson filed suit in Orange County Superior Court for unspecified damages against the alleged Seal Beach salon shooter, according to their attorney Ed Susolik.

Victim Michelle Fournier's parents, Joseph and Geraldine Burke, filed a similar lawsuit on Friday, also seeking unspecified damages.

While the Fourniers' attorney, Eric V. Traut, seeks to freeze Dekraai's assets, Susolik is taking a slightly different strategy.

"I'm going to focus the litigation efforts in recovering damages from his insurance,'' Susolik told City News Service.

State law allows victims to sue Dekraai's homeowners insurance company to recover damages, which are "unspecified at this time, but damages are incalculable,'' Susolik said.

Susolik has been friends with the Wilson family for about 10 years "but one of the reasons we were retained is we're insurance experts and we know how to go after insurance proceeds,'' he said. "And we will look for every other possible source of recovery."

Traut said Dekraai owns some land in Seal Beach and a home in a rental or condominium complex.

Fournier, who was Dekraai's ex-wife, was styling Christy Wilson's hair when Dekraai allegedly began his rampage. Dekraai told police he shot them first, then gunned down seven others.

"My kids no longer have a mother,'' Paul Wilson said. "I no longer have a wife, best friend and soul mate. We were married for 24 years and she was our world. My life and my kids' lives will never be the same. Somebody must be accountable and answer for that.''

Correction: An earlier version of this story said the Wilson family's lawsuit was filed Tuesday. It was filed Monday.
