Westminster Mall Announces New General Manager

With a diverse background in the retail and tourism space including experience ranging from budgeting, leasing and sales, Kevin Caulson joins Simon Property Group’s (NYSE: SPG) Westminster Mall as the new General Manager for the property.

Caulson, 39, began his work with Westminster Mall on Monday, July 8, 2013, and will be responsible for local leasing, tenant relations, building operations, security and marketing efforts. Additionally, he will act as a key liaison for various community and strategic organizations.

Rajeev K. Chhabra, who previously served as General Manager at Westminster Mall, has moved into the same position at Brea Mall, another Simon property, in Brea, CA.

Caulson comes to Simon Property Group after serving 8 years in various roles with The Westfield Group. Most recently, Caulson served as district director of specialty leasing and mall retail at Westfield shopping centers in the greater Maryland area. Caulson previously worked with 11 Southeast region malls including locations in North Carolina, Florida and Washington D.C. Previously he managed assets such as Sarasota Square in Florida, and Capital/Capital Promenade in Olympia, Washington, after getting his start in the business as assistant general manager at Plaza Bonita in National City, California.

“I was attracted to the Simon Property Group due to their amazing reputation in the industry,” said Caulson, describing why he wanted to make the change. “I knew that the best people were here. I’m looking forward to working with driven individuals who are focused on moving Westminster Mall forward in 2013 and beyond.”

A graduate of the University of San Diego, Caulson began his professional career with SeaWorld San Diego while still in college, starting as a narrator and working his way up to a manager position in SeaWorld’s education department. In his role, Caulson helped develop the park’s education and sleepover programs, meant to connect youngsters to the sea and sea life. He also led the park’s guided tour program with specific plans for families and individuals all the way to A-list celebrities, including everyone from Muhammad Ali to Cindy Crawford.

Caulson said he is an advocate for continuous learning, and hopes to apply a “fresh set of eyes” to his role at Westminster Mall.

“It’s about looking forward,” he said. “My goal is to motivate, develop and enhance a can-do environment here at Westminster, driving this asset to the forefront of the market, company and industry.”
