KW LOS ALAMITOS HELPS OUT FOR THE CHILD DURING HOLIDAY SEASON

Every holiday season, agents at Keller Williams Realty Los Alamitos have volunteered their time and donated money, toys and food to help out in the local community.

This year, led by Oriana Shea, the agents will be collecting items to support  For The Child, a local group that services abused children. Every year the organization collects items for its annual "Holiday Workshop" to hand out to infant, toddlers, children ages 3-12 and those 13 and older.

"For The Child strives to provide our neediest families with a wonderful holiday experience," said Shea.  "Here’s how it works. Low income families are nominated to receive toys in December and the parents & guardians are invited to the “Holiday Workshop” where they choose gifts for each child in their family."

"Volunteers help them wrap the gifts before they head home so they can surprise their children," added Shea.

"For The Child is an organization that has been around for 40 years helping children" said Shea. "The food and toys collected during these two drives will help provide the neediest families with a wonderful Holiday experience."

For The Child is the product of the merger in July 1996 of Cedar House and Sarah Center. Both of these agencies were founded by the same two visionary social workers who saw a need for programs in Long Beach that would focus treatment on physical child abuse (Cedar House -

1974) and later sexual abuse (Sarah Center - 1984).

"The care and support that the community has shown in past years has been wonderful," said Elaine Armogida, the team leader at Keller Williams Realty Los Alamitos.  "It is just amazing how people are able to give so much to those in need. We are looking forward to a successful collection drive once again."

"This is such a great organization,' continued Shea. "It has provided the tools of protection, hope and healing to child victims and their families."

If you would like to help with the "Holiday Workshop", they need new, unwrapped toys for over 350 children of all ages including gifts for teens.

For infants, the group is looking for such items as bath toys, crib mobiles, play telephones and rattles and shakers. They would appreciate items such as super hero action figures, dolls, car and trucks and sports balls for those ages 3-12.

Items for the teens can be gift cards, music headphones, sports related hats and t-shirts, cosmetics and cameras.

Please have all toy donations delivered before Friday, December 13.

If interested in dropping off items for this year's "Holiday Workshop", you may leave them at 10900 Los Alamitos Blvd (behind Hof's Hut) suite #160 or please call Oriana Shea at (562) 477-3388 for more information.
