Salon Meritage to Hold Grand Reopening

The new owner hopes the renovation will help the business and the survivors of 2011 shooting move forward.

The new owner of Seal Beach’s Salon Meritage, where a gunman killed eight people more than a year ago, is trying to put the incident behind her with a grand reopening Sunday, according to a report in the Long Beach Press-Telegram.

Stylist Irma Acosta, who is buying the salon, was working the day of the
slayings. She says didn’t want the space “to be remembered for what happened" Oct. 12, 2011, when, authorities say, Scott Dekraai shot his ex-wife and eight others.

Acosta and one of the original owners purposely changed the layout of the
salon, and other stylists had input on the design.
