Local Gas Prices Drop by More Than A Dime

While the cost of a gallon of gas is dropping quickly, we're still spending more on gas than we ever have at this time of year.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Orange County fell for the 17th consecutive day, dropping 1.1 cents to $3.694, the lowest since Aug. 19. In the Seal Beach and Los Alamitos area, prices have dropped by at least a dime over the last week.

The Orange County average price is 6.9 cents less than one week ago and 14.2 cents lower than a month ago but 55.8 cents more than one year ago. The Orange County average price has dropped 14.7 cents over the past 17 days, including eight-tenths of a cent on Saturday.

“We haven’t seen gas prices this low since the end of August, although they are higher than they’ve ever been at this time of the year,” said Auto Club spokesperson Jeffrey Spring. “Right now, Southern California drivers can pay $3.50 a gallon or even less in many areas if they shop around.”
